angry sky?

felt a little bored with my thesis. When I looked outside my window, I see this stunning sky. So i went to the balcony. It’s so damn hot and humid. Summer is definitely killing me. *lap keringet *peres baju

I remember i read about black card photography technique somewhere, it’s a technique to take dramatic sky without making the building or scenery under it a silhouette. will explain about it later.

So i tried, without a tripod, which is a huge mistake. It’s so difficult to keep the camera stable with only one hand. Not forget to mention my camera is quite heavy.

But i’m so happy with the result. I think it’s a beginner luck. Will explore this technique when i’ve finished my thesis.

my not so touchy graduation photo

I’ll have my graduation ceremony this Saturday, and defense on June,28. It’s quite strange for me, because in Indonesia, you have to have your defense first and then you can attend the graduation ceremony.

In my former university, ITB, we have 3 graduation ceremonies in 1 year, March, July and October. So we have to make sure we could have defense at least 1 month before that, then we could attend the graduation ceremony.

While here, in National Cheng Kung University, Graduation ceremony only hold once in a year. So, no matter we have had or defense or not, we could attend the graduation ceremony.

perempuan senja

Saya ini termasuk perempuan yang mudah bahagia dengan hal-hal remeh temeh. Mudah sedih juga dengan hal-hal kecil tidak penting. I blame my female hormone for that, haha.

Seperti juga kebanyakan orang-orang lain di sudut dunia, saya menyukai senja, teramat sangat. Saya bisa tiba-tiba berkaca-kaca hanya dengan melihat langit kemerahan kemudian matahari pelan-pelan ditelan malam atau tersenyum-senyum seperti orang yang dimabuk cinta.

Kemarin sore, setelah seminggu yang lalu cuaca tidak menentu (seharusnya sudah masuk spring, tapi masih saja ada kiriman angin dingin entah itu dari Mainland China atau Jepang) akhirnya matahari kembali bersinar ceria dari pagi. Sesaat sebelum pergi hang out dengan teman-teman lab, saya terpana melihat sinar keemasan yang memantul di dinding gedung-gedung di Kuang Fu kampus, yang biasa saya intip dari jendela lab saya di lantai 4.

saya hanya tertawa mendengarnya sambil mengajak dia ikut mengintip matahari yang perlahan-lahan ditelan malam.

welcome party!

Our lab has 2 new members this semester. Masashi Morita, student exchange from Hokkaido University, who apparently can speak “bahasa sedikit-sedikit” because he spent 2 months working at Karawang 2 years ago  (such a small world!) and Esther, an undergraduate student.

So, after group meeting report (this week is my turn) we held a welcome party for both of them. Fortunately the group meeting went well and only about 1.5 hours. But, at the end of the meeting, Prof Fuku raised a very difficult question which is  ”the main point of my thesis”. -__-”. ok, just skipped this thesis part.

end year party

It is a tradition in my lab, well i think almost in every school or university in Taiwan, to have a party after finishing the final exam at the end of semester. It’s called End year party. At first i was assuming that this party is for celebrating the new year’s eve. But i was wrong. The purpose of the party is to have some fun after studying and doing a lot of things for the whole semester, i guess.

So we decided to have a party at Mini Restaurant. It is located somewhere in Tainan city (I’m really bad at direction and map). Each of the lab member has to bring a well-wrapped gift. We will do a gift exchange.

The mini restaurant is very very nice. The decoration is awesome. It feels like home and it’s very comfortable too. I think i can sit there, having delicious food while chatting with my friends all day. Unfortunately, the price is a litlle bit expensive. For the special ceramic set will cost you around 280 – 320 NT. There are free drinks though, but the taste is not very good,  little sour, like the taste of tamarine juice.  One thing that dissappointed me is, they don’t have  hot chocolate (since i’m a big fans of chocolate drink), so i ordered India nai cha (milk tea in India style) which taste quite good.

actually ceramic set is quite similar with hotpot, you have to cook all the vegetables and meat/fish/seafood by your self using special set of ceramics. For me,  the taste is ok, not that delicious for that price actually, but you will have  a big portion. I can not eat all of them, so i ask Shawn and Trent’s help and they help me happily.

The first turn is Prof Fuku (in pink strip polo) since he is the oldest among us. He got gift from Andy, after picking a piece of paper with number to decide which gift that he get.

I got mickey bank from Shawn. But before that, i got my own present for the first pick.  So i have to pick another paper, and finally i get this cute mickey bank. Special thanks to Shawn. I think it means that i have to save more money from now on. Heu

After having  a very nice food and talk, Prof Fuku had an idea to karaoke. Only the 4 of us who joined him at last. The rest were too tired to join us. It was the first karaoke experince since i’m here. I was so excited, although i also felt quite tired.  Actually there are so many karaoke places here, called KTV. It’s different in Indonesia where the rate depends on the size of the room. It’s more expensive here.

Prof Fuku is a good singer, especially seriosa song like pavarotti. He has a very big and nice voice. I was amazed when i first listen him singing.

I also did duet with Prof Fuku. We sang A whole new world. He said that, if there is a karaoke contest at our department, we should sing this song. Hihi.

Ah, for me, karaoke-ing in NAV or Inul Vizta or Happy Puppy or even Lemonade is muuuuccchhhhh better than here. Really! They don’t have many choices of english song, even the song version is weird. Don’t imagine you can sing the newest song. I miss Indonesia sooooo.

“because you’re special”

seperti biasa, di hari selasa pagi, kehidupan saya dimulai dengan kuliah principle sampling di pukul delapan. 60% diantara waktu kuliah, saya pasti berjuang sekuat tenaga menahan kantuk (maapkan mahasiswimu yang tidak tahu diri ini prof. huks)

sama seperti pagi2 sebelumnya, pagi inipun saya berjuang untuk tetap fokus pada apa yang prof ajarkan. dan ternyata, kuliah pagi ini adalah kuliah terakhir. minggu minggu berikutnya akan diisi dengan presentasi final project dari kita.

di akhir kuliah tadi, disela sela menahan kepala, saya mendengar bahwa si prof sudah mem burn semua bahan kuliah, dan cd2 itu akan dibagikan kepada beberapa mahasiswa/i nya. dan tiba2, dia memberikan cd pertama ke saya. sambil berkata

“here’s the cd for you. because you’re special”

“hoo, thank you prof”  jawab saya dengan mata yang langsung jadi 100 watt

what? dalam hati saya masih bertanya2. spesial dibagian mananya saya ini. eiits, bukan bearti saya biasa biasa saja. saya (memang) luar biasa (halah). maksud saya, saya tidak menonjol, bertanya pun hanya sekali apa dua kali. nilai ujian paling gede? nilai nya saja belum keluar, tapi saya rasa, saya bukan yang tertinggi di kelas.

yasudahlah. saya hanya mengucap alhamdulillah. mungkin si prof bisa melihat bakat dan potensi terpendam dalam diri saya. hihi. oia, sekuat tenaga saya akan berjuang untuk final test dan final project! i won’t let you down, Prof.  yoossshhh!
